The Autism PAC ("we," "us," "our") provides SMS messaging services to supporters and donors who have opted in to receive advocacy updates, fundraising appeals, event invitations, and campaign communications. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your phone number and SMS data.

SMS messaging is provided via eMotiv Marketing and Consulting, Inc., our campaign services partner, using Twilio as the delivery platform.

Information We Collect

When you opt in to receive SMS messages from The Autism PAC, we collect:

  • Mobile phone number - Provided by you when you opt in
  • Name (optional) - To personalize messages
  • Consent timestamp - Date and time you opted in
  • Interaction data - Message delivery status, opt-out requests
  • Zip code (optional) - For relevant local advocacy alerts

How We Use Your Information

We use your phone number to send you:

  • Legislative alerts on autism policy and services
  • Advocacy campaign updates and calls to action
  • Fundraising appeals and donation requests
  • Event reminders and invitations
  • Volunteer coordination messages
  • Follow-up communications after in-person meetings

We do not:

  • Sell or rent your phone number to third parties
  • Share your data except with our SMS service provider (Twilio)

How You Opted In

You consented to receive messages through one or more of these methods:

  1. Online forms - Checking the SMS consent box on our signup form or donation forms
  2. Text-to-join - Texting START, JOIN, or SUBSCRIBE to our campaign number (951-666-2406)
  3. Event registration - Providing your number when registering for campaign events
  4. QR codes - Scanning a code at events that leads to an opt-in form
  5. Business cards - Providing your card to campaign staff with verbal consent for follow-up
  6. In-person signup - Filling out paper forms at campaign events or canvassing

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies by campaign activity. You may receive:

  • Low volume campaigns: 1-4 messages per month
  • Active campaigns: 1-2 messages per week during peak advocacy periods
  • Event-driven: Reminders 24-48 hours before events you've registered for

Opt-Out / Unsubscribe

You can stop receiving messages at any time by:

  • Texting STOP - Reply with STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, or REVOKE
  • Automatic confirmation - You'll receive immediate confirmation of opt-out
  • Permanent removal - You will not receive further messages unless you opt in again

Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Consult your carrier for details. The Autism PAC does not charge for SMS messages, but your carrier may apply standard SMS rates.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use Twilio Inc. as our SMS delivery platform. Twilio may collect:

  • Phone number
  • Message delivery logs
  • Opt-out status

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of our SMS service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
